Reduce blemishes, redness and pigmentation for smoother, more even-looking skin!

Reducing Serum with 10% Azelaic Acid, BHA and Glycyrrhizin is a targeted facial serum developed for acne-prone, sensitive, redness-prone and couperose-prone skin, including complexions prone to rosacea. Combining 10% Azelaic Acid, Salicylic Acid (BHA), Glycyrrhizin and Diglucosyl Gallic Acid, the formula helps reduce blemishes, regulate excess sebum and improve the appearance of pigmentation. It gently supports exfoliation of dead skin cells, refines uneven texture and helps minimise the formation of new imperfections. Soothing ingredients calm visible redness and discomfort, promoting a clearer, more even-looking complexion. Suitable for morning and/or evening use, depending on skin tolerance to exfoliating acids.

Who is this product for?

  • Acne-prone and blemish-prone skin, including skin prone to rosacea.
  • Couperose-prone skin with visible dilated capillaries (telangiectasia) and redness.
  • Sensitive, reactive skin prone to micro-inflammatory changes.
  • Skin experiencing excess sebum production.
  • Complexions with pigmentation and uneven skin tone.
  • Skin with rough, uneven texture.
  • Dry skin requiring targeted blemish care alongside adequate hydration and moisture barrier support.

Key ingredients:

  • 10% Azelaic Acid – helps soothe micro-inflammatory skin changes, reduce visible redness and brighten pigmentation. Supports balanced sebum production, helps limit bacterial growth and provides keratolytic benefits by promoting the removal of dead skin cells, reducing the tendency towards blemishes.
  • BHA (Salicylic Acid) – helps unclog pores, regulate sebum production and gently exfoliate dead skin cells. A gradual-release technology provides prolonged activity while helping minimise the risk of irritation.
  • Glycyrrhizin (a salt of Glycyrrhizic Acid) – provides soothing and calming benefits, helping reduce irritation and redness. It also acts as an antioxidant, protecting the skin against free radicals.
  • Diglucosyl Gallic Acid – a microbiome-activated ingredient that helps brighten the appearance of pigmentation, even out skin tone and soothe micro-inflammatory skin changes.

Benefits:

  • Helps reduce blemishes and minimise the formation of new imperfections.
  • Brightens the appearance of pigmentation and promotes a more even skin tone.
  • Reduces visible redness and soothes irritation.
  • Supports balanced sebum production.
  • Gently exfoliates dead skin cells.
  • Smooths roughness and improves uneven skin texture.
  • Helps minimise skin reactivity and micro-inflammatory changes.
  • Restores a feeling of calm and comfort to the skin.

How to use:

Apply an appropriate amount of serum to clean, dry skin on the face, neck and décolletage, avoiding the eye area. Use in the morning and/or evening, depending on your skin's needs and tolerance. Do not apply to damaged or irritated skin. The manufacturer recommends following with a hydrating serum and/or moisturiser.

Good to know:

  • Sun protection: exfoliating acids may increase the skin's sensitivity to sunlight. Avoid direct sun exposure and use high sun protection of at least SPF 50.
  • Ingredient combinations: do not use this serum in the same routine as retinoids or acid peels. When introducing it alongside microneedling skincare products or Vitamin C in the forms of Ascorbic Acid and Ascorbyl Glucoside, monitor your skin's response.
  • Retinoid routines: the manufacturer recommends discontinuing Azelaic Acid Serum while building tolerance to retinoids. Once tolerance has been established, the products may be used in separate skincare routines.
  • Copper Peptides: the serum may be combined with Copper Peptides, allowing a 30-minute interval between applications.
  • Skin response: temporary stinging, burning or redness may occur due to the Azelaic Acid content. Discontinue use if irritation is severe or persistent.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: the manufacturer does not recommend use during pregnancy. Breastfeeding is not listed as a contraindication.
  • Dermatologically tested on sensitive skin.
  • Fragrance-free – any noticeable scent comes from the ingredients in the formula.
  • Formulated to minimise the risk of allergic reactions.
  • Vegan product.

Frequently asked questions:

Can I use BasicLab Dermocosmetics Reducing Serum during pregnancy or breastfeeding? The manufacturer does not recommend using this serum during pregnancy. According to the manufacturer, breastfeeding is not a contraindication.

Do I need to apply a moisturiser after this Azelaic Acid Serum? The manufacturer recommends following with a hydrating serum and/or moisturiser to support hydration and skin comfort.

How should I combine 10% Azelaic Acid Serum with retinoids? Do not use them in the same skincare routine. The manufacturer recommends avoiding Azelaic Acid Serum while building retinoid tolerance. Once your skin tolerates retinoids well, the products can be used in separate routines.

Which ingredients should I avoid combining with this serum? Avoid using it in the same routine as retinoids or acid peels. When combining it with microneedling skincare products or Vitamin C in the forms of Ascorbic Acid and Ascorbyl Glucoside, monitor your skin's response.

Why does my skin sting after applying Azelaic Acid Serum? The 10% Azelaic Acid concentration may cause temporary stinging, burning or redness. According to the manufacturer, these sensations may lessen as the skin becomes accustomed to the product. Discontinue use if irritation is severe or persists.

Is Azelaic Acid Serum suitable for dry skin? Yes. The serum is selected according to skin concerns rather than skin type alone. For dry skin, adequate moisturising care and support for the skin's natural moisture barrier are particularly important.

Should I use this reducing serum in the morning or evening? The serum can be used in the morning and/or evening, depending on your skin's needs and tolerance. Remember to use SPF 50 sun protection daily when incorporating exfoliating acids into your routine.
