How to choose the right sunscreen?
Using sunscreen is an absolute must-have in any daily skincare routine. Choosing the right SPF product is not always easy. We often ask ourselves: which sunscreens are the safest, which ingredients should be avoided, what SPF level should we choose, and whether a cream will feel heavy, leave a white cast or clog pores.
Sunscreens come in two main types – chemical or mineral.
Chemical sunscreens are effective and usually more lightweight on the skin, but they may contain controversial ingredients such as PEGs, formaldehyde-releasing agents or silicones, which can potentially irritate the skin.
Mineral sunscreens work by reflecting or scattering UV rays using active minerals such as titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide.
If you care about safety, protection against UVA and UVB radiation, and a formula that is also more environmentally friendly, take a look at the Ultra-Light SPF30 Cream by Make Me Bio.
The cream has a lightweight texture, a pleasant subtle scent and absorbs quickly, reducing the risk of a white cast. Key ingredients include aloe leaf juice, olive oil, pomegranate extract and sea fennel.

What SPF level do I need?
We recommend using sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Make Me Bio recommends reapplying the Ultra-Light SPF30 Cream every 2–3 hours. SPF 30 is a good starting point for most skin types and tones. Unfortunately, most people apply too little product, which reduces the level of protection achieved.
Even a high SPF does not fully protect you from the negative effects of sun exposure. Using SPF 30 or higher does not mean you can stay in the sun longer than with a lower SPF. Sunscreen helps protect the skin from UV damage, but it does not make it immune, especially during prolonged sun exposure.

Which ingredients should I avoid?
Oxybenzone and octinoxate, commonly found in chemical sunscreens, may be absorbed by the skin and remain in the body for extended periods.
You should also check whether your sunscreen is environmentally friendly. In many parts of the world, regulations have already been introduced to restrict certain sunscreen ingredients due to their potential impact on marine ecosystems. When swimmers wear sunscreens containing certain chemical filters, these substances can contribute to coral reef damage and harm marine life.
Fortunately, with the Ultra-Light SPF30 Cream by Make Me Bio, you can enjoy sun protection in more beach destinations worldwide, as it is a more ocean-friendly formula 😊
