Key active ingredients:
- EPA fatty acids contribute to normal heart function. The best sources of EPA fatty acids are mainly fatty fish (mackerel, salmon, tuna, herring), shellfish and algae.
- Fish oil from anchovies including DHA and EPA - DHA - docosahexaenoic acid and EPA - eicosapentaenoic acid are Omega 3 fatty acids. DHA contributes to correct functioning of the brain and correct vision, whereas EPA and DHA contribute to correct functioning of the heart. Beneficial effects occur when 250 mg of DHA and EPA are taken daily. Their main sources are oily fish, krill oil and marine algae.
- Vitamin D3 is an organic chemical from the vitamin D group and is fat-soluble. It is responsible for bone mineralisation and the normal development of the skeletal system. Vitamin D3 is essential for the proper functioning of the nervous, immune and muscular systems. It also regulates the calcium-phosphorus balance in the organism by balancing the incorrect calcium-phosphorus ratio.

FAQ
Has OmegaMe Prenatal been tested?
All Health Labs Care supplements have been tested for mold, yeast, bacteria (including presence of Escherichia coli, presence of Staphylococcus aureus, presence of Salmonella), and PAHs (sum of (Benzo[a]anthracene, Benzo[β]fluoranthene, Chrysene and Benzo[α]pyrene) and Benzo[α]pyrene), as well as heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury). Tests on each batch of supplements are carried out in an independent, certified J.S. Hamilton Poland laboratory, which meets the highest quality standards, confirmed, among others, by the Polish Centre for Accreditation and membership in national and international organisations, such as FOSFA (Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations) or GAFTA (Grain & Feed Trade Association).
What is the reason for the high ratio of DHA to EPA in OmegaMe Prenatal?
The food supplement OmegaMe Prenatal is a product dedicated primarily to pregnant and breastfeeding women, hence it contains as much as 700 mg of DHA acid.
DHA acid is an important component of brain cells, responsible for its proper development. The omega 3 fatty acid DHA consumed by the mother favourably influences the development of the brain of the foetus and the brain of the breastfed infant. The source of DHA for the baby is... mother! During pregnancy this ingredient reaches the foetus through the placenta and during breastfeeding it is passed on in the mother's milk. For this reason, the demand for the omega 3 fatty acid DHA among pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers is significantly increased.
EPA acts mainly on inflammatory conditions. DHA also has anti-inflammatory properties, but to a lesser extent than EPA.
Dietary supplement OmegaMe Prenatal is one of the few products on the market with such a high content of DHA acid, which distinguishes it from other products with omega 3 fatty acids.
Why should pregnant and breastfeeding women consume Omega 3 acids?
The demand for DHA in pregnant women is higher than in the general population, and additionally in the fetus it increases significantly during the third trimester of pregnancy. Omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA are recommended for pregnant women and during breastfeeding by the Polish Society of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians. Adequate supply of DHA during these periods supports correct development of cells (especially neurons), helps to ensure proper visual acuity and psychomotor development of the child. Due to the fact that in pregnant women adequate DHA supply from the diet may be difficult as Poland belongs to countries with low fish intake, supplementation is worth considering.
With which other HealthLabs supplements can I combine OmegaMe Prenatal?
It is a good idea to combine OmegaMe Prenatal supplementation with LittleMe trimester 1 and LittleMe trimester 2 and 3. This is a basic kit that contains ingredients recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as those planning pregnancy.
Due to the iron content in the LittleMe food supplement, it is worth remembering the recommendations of PTGiP, i.e:
- before 16 weeks (1st trimester) - iron supplementation is recommended only in case of diagnosed iron deficiency anaemia,
- after 16 weeks (second and third trimester) - iron supplementation of up to 30 mg/day (exactly the amount in the LittleMe dietary supplement) is recommended.
Are there any contraindications to using OmegaMe Prenatal?
Before taking the OmegaMe Prenatal supplement, consult your doctor if you have:
- haemophilia and taking anticoagulant medication,
- pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Do not use in case of:
- allergy or hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients,
- too high level of vitamin D3 in organism (hypervitaminosis),
- excess of calcium in organism (hypercalcemia) and diseases, which influence calcium metabolism,
- sarcoidosis.
In the case of fatty diarrhoea, which can be caused by an excess of fats in the diet or due to problems digesting them, use the OmegaMe Prenatal supplement every other day and observe your body's reaction. Once your symptoms have subsided, you can go back to the recommended dosage (1 capsule per day).
Can I take OmegaMe Prenatal if I drink cod liver oil?
It is suggested that you choose only one of these products. If you want to supplement with OmegaMe Prenatal, you should stop drinking cod liver oil.
After supplementation with OmegaMe Prenatal I get a fishy taste. Can anything be done about it?
1. Start by checking that the supplement has been stored correctly and that the storage period after first opening has not expired, thus preventing oxidation and rancidity of the fats. If this is the case, the supplement should be discarded.
2. Problems with belching may also be due to dysfunction of the pancreas, gallbladder or duodenum (digestive tract). Consult your doctor for proper fat digestion as a priority.
3. Try taking OmegaMe Prenatal after a meal that is not too heavy and contains fat.
When to take OmegaMe Prenatal - before, after or with a meal?
Use food supplements according to the information on the packaging and label. You can take your OmegaMe food supplement at any time of the day, but supplementation after a meal is recommended to ensure better digestion and biodistribution of fatty acids in the body.
What is the 25-(OH)D test recommended for OmegaMe Prenatal supplementation?
The test determines the concentration of the first hydroxy derivative of vitamin D: calcidiol [25(OH)D], which is considered a marker for the body's coverage of vitamin D requirements. Knowledge of vitamin D concentration is important to assess the level of vitamin D in the body and the actual demand, and to properly initiate diagnostics.
The test is particularly recommended during combined supplementation with preparations containing vitamin D3.
