An aromatic spice, a valuable health-supporting ingredient. Ideal both for everyday cooking and in natural therapies!

Lovage found its way to Europe thanks to the Benedictines, who cultivated the plant in their monastery gardens. It is believed to have originated in what is now Iran.

The fresh and dried leaves are a common seasoning in broths, bean soups, tripe and especially in dishes that are difficult to digest. It is a common ingredient in a variety of sauces, salads and fish dishes.

In addition to its taste, lovage provides many medicinal uses. It is used as an additive in aromatic baths and has been shown to have a calming, relaxing and soothing effect. It supports the functioning of the liver, facilitates the flow of bile ducts and increases digestion. Thanks to the presence of essential oils and coumarin, it helps proper blood circulation, also stimulates the blood supply to the organs and is therefore still considered an effective aphrodisiac.

NOTE: Long-term intake of too much lovage is not recommended for pregnant women, nor is the use of this spice recommended for women with menstrual disorders.
