Superfoods for special tasks! Superfood show beneficial properties for health and well-being!

Lucuma is the national fruit of Peru called "the gold of the Incas." In ancient times it was a symbol of creation and fertility. It is found in Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Colombia, as well as Vietnam and Laos. For centuries it has been used by indigenous South Americans as food and even as a medicinal agent.

The flavor of lucuma can be characterized as a combination of maple syrup, caramel and sweet yams. The fruit is exported dried in powder form because it is difficult to transport and spoils quickly.

Lucuma powder can provide the body with β-carotene, niacin, potassium and calcium and has antioxidant activity. It is also known for its anti-inflammatory effects.

It is used as a natural sweetener, successfully being a healthy substitute for sugar. At the same time, due to its low glycemic index (GI=5), it is recommended for people with carbohydrate management problems. Unlike most fruits, it does not trigger an insulin spike. Lucuma powder is also less acid-forming than other sweeteners.

Its high dietary fiber content has a positive effect on the digestive tract and digestive support, and provides a sense of satiety. The powder is made by drying the finely chopped fruit at temperatures below 45°C, which preserves its valuable nutritional value.

Directions for use:

Lucuma works well in smoothies, oatmeal, baked goods and desserts. It's great for making ice cream, something Peruvians are particularly fond of, as it helps combine fats with sugars. It mixes well with milk and vegetable drinks. Combined with carob, it provides an alternative for those allergic to cocoa.

However, it is not very suitable for use analogous to sugar in, for example, coffee or tea, as it dissolves poorly in water and warm beverages.

Lucuma powder is much less sweet than sugar. To get the sweetness of one tablespoon of sugar, you need to use two tablespoons of lucuma.
