Gluten-free flour!

Chestnut flour is one of those products that appeared on Polish shelves under the influence of the fashion for healthy food and gluten-free products. It is known mainly by lovers of experimental cuisine, supporters of new food products, visitors of foreign delicatessen and customers of health food stores. Anyone who does not know what chestnut flour tastes like should make up for it quickly!

Edible chestnuts are a very exotic product in Poland - hardly anyone knows it and has ever tried it. In our country, chestnut fruits are much more popular - wild and definitely unsuitable for food, but excellent when playing in constructing chestnut men. In Mediterranean countries, chestnuts also fall from trees in autumn, but end up straight on tables and in ovens. At first glance, they are very similar to the content of green, spiky spheres covering Polish parks and pavements. On closer inspection, however, it is easy to see that the chestnuts are smaller, have a sharp tip and slightly resemble hazelnuts in their shell. Products based on them are created in almost all of Europe - including chestnut flour, i.e. ground chestnuts.

Compared to other gluten-free flours, chestnut flour has the most similar texture to ground wheat. This is an important feature, especially in the case of baked goods, which often have an inappropriate texture in the gluten-free version. Due to its high plasticity, chestnut flour is a universal substitute for the most popular wheat flour in Poland. In turn, the smell is more like nuts, and you can feel a sweet note in its taste. An additional advantage of chestnut flour is the high - for this type of product - protein and fiber content. In this way, products based on it provide a longer feeling of fullness and have a positive effect on intestinal peristalsis.
