Quick ABC Guide to Body Care!

Posted by VESA Beauty on

Most of us focus our skincare routine on the face. Perhaps also on the hair. Why? Because they are the most visible parts of us to others.

But what about the body? Does the fact that it is hidden under clothing mean it requires less attention? Absolutely… NOT!

We very much like the saying that the body is our temple, and in our opinion we should treat it as such. So is there an ABC of body care? YES!

So, grab the brush and get to it! Why?

Dry brushing is meant to stimulate lymphatic flow, smooth the skin, and help remove part of the dead skin cells. Can it replace exfoliation? NO!

Which brush should you choose?

If you like a strong massage or do not have very sensitive skin, we recommend choosing a brush with firm bristles. Such a brush works great on thighs, buttocks, arms and the abdomen. Brushing is not about pressing hard into the body – it should be a pleasant massage, with short, quick movements. Firm bristles will smooth the skin slightly faster than softer ones. Firm bristles include coconut or agave.

If your skin is sensitive or you are just starting your dry brushing journey and do not want to be discouraged by strong bristles, choose softer ones, e.g. boar bristles.

Dry brushing done – now let’s move on to exfoliation.

Body exfoliation

A body scrub is worth doing twice a week, although this frequency is not a must. Observe how your skin reacts to your treatments, as it will largely “tell you” what effect your skincare is having.

Choosing a scrub is an individual matter. If you do not like the film some scrubs leave behind, we recommend cleansing scrubs. When choosing a scrub, it is worth paying attention to its ingredients. Scrubs with collagen help improve skin firmness, chocolate supports regeneration, while ingredients such as honey, shea butter and fruit extracts nourish the skin.

Of course, you can also choose based on scent or keep several and alternate between them.

C for moisturisation?

If A is brushing and B is exfoliation, then C should be moisturisation!

We hardly need to explain how important skin hydration is. What should you consider when choosing a moisturiser? First and foremost, your skin’s needs. If you have delicate, irritation-prone skin, choose hypoallergenic products with a simple, gentle formula. It is also worth opting for single-ingredient products, such as shea butter or sweet almond oil.

If you have “normal” skin, you have a wide range of options. Our recommendation is simply to test and observe what works for you and what does not.

Body care is important not only because it improves the condition of our skin. By lighting a scented candle and playing soft, calming music, we transform it into a ritual not only for the body but also for the mind. Take care of yourself regularly and naturally, and not only your skin but also your mind will thank you for it.
